William A. Brown
Dr. Brown is an economic entomologist, whose concerns include insecticide resistance to pesticides. Carson has cited his work extensively in Chap. 16 of Silent Spring.
Be sure to review Chaps. 1-2,7,9,15-16 in Silent Spring. You should be able to comment on Carson's credibility (for example, did she represent your work fairly and do you agree with her policy conclusions?), the problem of insecticide resistance, and the dynamic between balance of nature and control of nature. Be sure to be familiar with the possible resistance by typhus and malaria vectors in the important cases from World War II.
