3. EPISODES, 1800 - 1840

<<-- Project Home | 4A. Research Option: 1840 Assessment and Debate -->> |4B. Reading Option: 1840 General Questions -->>

These files contain detailed accounts of the issues, scientists, and ideas in the period 1800-1840.

WHAT YOU HAVE TO DO:

Read each Episode:

1. Work either across by date or down by "track," as you wish.  Your assignment is to gain knowledge of the questions being asked over time or within one frame of reference and the answers being suggested. Some, but not all, of these episodes were introduced in the GoogeEarth European Tour.

2. As you work you can, if you wish:

a. fill out the Reporting Form to whatever level of detail you wish in preparation for the research and writing (open this pdf file and print it off to help you keep track)

b. consider some larger, cumulative questions as you work through these (these are also the "Reading Option" questions).

ALSO:

There is a comprehensive Bibliography but specific references are provided in each Episode, all with links to the original 19th Century sources in GoogleBooks: these are the readings you will draw from in the concluding exercises.
